This artist-made book contains a previously unpublished series of 40 drawings made by Anne-Valérie Gasc and Gilles Desplanques during a stay at Maribor in Slovenia. These images draw up an inventory of suburban houses in mid-explosion/deconstruction. This volume, in the style of a sales catalogue of the 1980s, materializes the trace left by a huge fictitious operation imagined by the two visual artists. Between reality and fiction, the pages show the strange and disturbing perfection of a seismic generator taking shape and operating in the form of a sound wave, carefully calculated by a physicist – alive for sure – commissioned for the project. We chose an immaculate graphic design for this editorial object coming seemingly out of nowhere, which quite obviously, and to our great pleasure, finds a fitting place in our bookstore.
