Our House in The Middle of Our Street
Art Book Magazine et la Maison des Arts de Malakoff
The Maison des Arts in Malakoff asked artist Jeanne Susplugas to curate an international exhibition centered on the notion of space, more specifically on the concept of “house”, interior, habitat, in their quality as inhabited places. The amazing diversity among the propositions of these artists shown pushes the envelope and moves the lines in the sand, interrogating not just architecture but performance and art, too.
The body becomes wall, roof, window; the house becomes box, scale model, nest, matter… Photographs share the spotlight with drawings, videos and installations.
This volume, exclusively available in digital format, comprises all works from the show, and, moreover, a series of specific documents: reference texts and numerous artist interviews, as well as the selection by each artist of a specific “house”, all of which significantly further and enrich the curatorial discourse.
This interactive book was conceived and tailored specifically for the iPad. It enables viewers to easily and efficiently navigate in a brand new way this dense, rich content, sliding from one artist to the next but also from text to image with simple, intuitive gestures.
