Libelle 0

Libelle 0

Rosascape

Every two months since February 2009, Libelle 0 has been inviting a different artist to propose a totally new plastic and visual work. The published object is an A2 format sheet printed recto/verso on Polyart synthetic paper. 1300 copies are then put up for self-service and free circulation while 30 copies are numbered and signed by the artist.

Art Book Magazine and Rosascape have decided to gather these together in a brand new edition, specially designed for the digital format.

The collection and the principle of the exhibition
Through the collection of these works, Libelle 0 interrogates our contemporary relationship with our environment. From one work to the next, a multiform landscape takes shape, showing the growing complexity of our attempts to grasp the various aspects of the environments in which we are evolving. These environments today are both close and distant, real and virtual, intimate and social, cultural or natural; this complexity means that the issue of the environment can only be addressed by exploring several of its facets.
The Libelle 0 project will last for three years
. At the rate of six works published each year, this represents 18 fragments, 18 works, created by artists who, each in their own way, explore our relationship with the world, city and culture, and the uses that we make of them, to offer us a vision of them, either head-on or displaced. The artists behind these works range from internationally famous artists to newer ones.
The first work is a creation from Yona Friedman (February 2009). There followed works by Rodney Graham (April), Renaud Auguste Dormeuil (June), Berger & Berger (September), Tatiana Trouvé (November), Fabien Giraud and Raphaël Siboni (February 2010), Dora Garcia (April), Benoit Maire (June), Simon Starling (September), Latifa Echakhch (November), Sonia Khurana (February 2011) etc.
This collection is part of a commission of works and artists that forms a set, whose positioning in time (one work produced every two months) and space (a score of private and public places where the works are disseminated in self-service mode) breaks with the traditional style of exhibition, usually configured in a defined time and space, and for a restricted public only.
